PACA Gex–St-Genis
The historical settlement corridors St.Genis-Meyrin-Geneva and Gex-Ferney-Geneva are the two main development corridors of Geneva’s western agglomeration. Along these axes, over 15’000 housing units and 17’000 jobs are planned to be created in the next 25 years through densification, transformation, and urban expansion.
A spatial planning regulatory framework at both cantonal and municipal levels enables qualitative and quantitative densification of the existing settlement area. Through so-called “strategic development projects,” possible restructurings, urban expansions, and transport infrastructure projects are outlined, such as the Geneva–St.Genis tram line connecting various important facilities (CERN, airport), development areas (Meyrin, Zimeysa), and recreational spaces (green heart).
