Cooperative Housing Bruderwies, Zurich

In the city's overall planning (municipal structure plan), the Bruderwies area is earmarked for denser development. The Linth-Escher building cooperative (BGLE) therefore wants to create more affordable housing in this neighbourhood, which is in need of renewal, and has carried out a test planning process to this end. Various development scenarios under building law were tested in several workshops: development in accordance with standard building regulations, site development or implementation with a design plan. This provided important insights for the further development process and subsequent project competitions. The open space framework with a new park near the church will be secured. The first stage will be implemented in accordance with standard building regulations, with further development along the complex road layout subject to special building regulations. Individual buildings and trees will be secured in the long term.
