Productive Region All-Gäu
The All-Gäu growth area is one of the most dynamic regions in the canton of Solothurn. There are very diverse land use demands and infrastructures (e.g., highways A1/A2, logistics and shopping centers, agriculture). Through the test planning process, future land use interests are coordinated across borders and topics, and a long-term spatial development strategy is developed through dialogue between the canton and municipalities.
The developed concept envisions location- and site-specific densification of employment areas in coordination with transport—with clearly defined area profiles: some areas will experience very high development dynamics alongside the establishment of train stations as multimodal transport hubs. While one location is to be developed into a research, industrial, and commercial cluster, another will be developed as a diverse intermodal gateway and a commercial center at the station. Cargo Sous Terrain is considered as an upward-compatible element. In developing the employment areas, the best possible synergy between commerce, agriculture, and energy generation is emphasized (integration of cultivation areas, establishment of circular economy, development of district heating networks). The concept is developed on two scale levels, with the regional level forming the basis for spatial zoom-ins.
