Tram Extension TCOB, Bernex

The Route de Chancy (connecting Geneva, Onex, and Bernex) is one of the most important development corridors in the Geneva metropolitan area. With numerous densifications, transformation zones, and new urban extensions planned along this axis, over the next 25 years more than 12’000 housing units and 8’000 jobs are expected to be created.

The new tram line TCOB plays a key role in transforming the main road into an attractive urban space with a strong identity. Through integrated urban cross-sections, traffic, settlement, and public space are coordinated. An important aspect is the urban-integrated noise protection. The new tram stops are located at strategically important urban points (landmarks, concentration of key uses, sites of historical significance, and connections to new developments). For the adjacent building zones, neighborhood structures, building heights, and uses have been defined. This corridor thus integrates optimally into the surrounding urban area.
