The Langenthal agglomeration program currently focuses solely on the city of Langenthal. However, since the surrounding municipalities have strong interactions with the city, it is crucial to consider the medium- to long-term development beyond the city limits. In coordination with the Canton of Bern and the Oberaargau region, an expansion of the study area was sought with the AP submission. For this reason, the municipalities involved developed a shared vision called the “Garden City Agglomeration,” along with an overall strategy and differentiated sub-strategies addressing settlement and landscape development, public transport, slow traffic, and motorized individual traffic (MIV).
