Station and Business District La Tène–Marin

The municipality of La Tène is located on the eastern edge of the Neuchâtel agglomeration. The strategically situated yet currently underutilized area between the motorway and railway has been designated as a cantonal development focus area for “Employment.” It is to be transformed into a high-quality employment district with regional significance.

A central theme in the concept is the differentiated development based on micro-location, particularly in coordination with transportation. A city campus is proposed directly next to the train station. In combination with educational and research institutions (university, technical school), a dense employment district will emerge, focused on innovative industries (start-ups, service providers). The Marin Centre shopping mall will also be better connected. In the northeastern part—along the motorway—a medium-density industrial district will be developed, focusing on manufacturing and production companies. In the transition zone to the existing residential neighborhoods, a large park and supplementary residential developments are planned. The Boulevard de Chevalereux will form the representative backbone of the new development. It serves as an attractive interface between employment and residential areas. With the activation of the land around the station, a phased development becomes possible.
