The industrial and commercial subarea in the Herblingen Valley is being gradually transformed into a vibrant and diverse mixed-use district, offering a differentiated range of residential and commercial spaces. A clear open space hierarchy and deliberate urban design strategy are central to ensuring a successful transformation process and fostering a strong sense of identity. At the edge of the plateau, the functional hub is reinforced with a prominent spatial presence in the cityscape. By shaping the sloped terrain and precisely positioning the high-rise building, a gateway into the inner area of the site is created.
The district is defined by a wide variety of uses. In addition to manufacturing workshops and commercial and service enterprises, many small offices and studios have already found a place here. To support a balanced, mixed neighborhood for all stages of life and resident groups, a diverse range of housing for around 500 inhabitants is planned.
